Online petition launched to save the silence at Mount St Joseph Retreat House

Please support our efforts by signing and sharing the petition. Thank You!!

An online petition appealing to safeguard the silent atmosphere at Mount St Joseph Retreat House in Mosta, Malta, has just been launched by CLC Malta, following requests by hundreds that something be done whereby they may show their support for the cause.

The approximate proposed area for the shooting range complex

The appeal is being directed towards the Malta Government and the Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) following the announcement a couple of weeks ago by Hon Michael Falzon that the government has reached the final stages of sorting out a 45-year lease agreement for some land next to the retreat house to be developed into a shooting range. Further investigations revealed that the shooting range would cover a much larger area and would contain five sections, the nearest boundary falling within approximately 110m of Mount St Joseph.

The Jesuits, who run the retreat house, are appealing for your support to save the silence offered by the retreat house. We invite you to sign and share the petition so that we will reach as many people as possible.

Facebook users may opt to join a group called 'Mount St Joseph Retreat House has to remain a place of restful silence' to keep abreast of developments and show support. The 'public group' was set up on the initiative of a private individual.
